The Little Birthday Party

Family Birthday Party Circa 1958

Welcome to my blog!  My name is Barbara, and I am a self-taught non-professional home baker.  I live on the Jersey Shore and have been passionate about baking cookies and creating new recipes for over 25 years.  Baking cookies gives me a rush of happiness and a  sense of satisfaction when their aroma surrounds me and especially when a perfect cookie creation is removed from the cookie sheet.  I love to share my cookies at parties, give them as holiday gifts wrapped up in decorative boxes, and take them to community events.

I have three grown children and this is me and my husband’s first empty nest year. While the children were growing up I often made cookies and our house was a very popular gathering place for their friends after school and on weekends.  I often packed oatmeal raisin cookies in their school lunches. We have a big roomy old-fashioned country kitchen in a turn of the century Victorian house. A plate of cookies was often on our large wooden table in the middle of the kitchen.

I am excited to share my cookie baking experiences and recipes with you.  I am currently working on a book that is compilation of my favorite versions of several common cookie classics and new creations that I think are destined to become classics. I would love to hear from you!
